Amy Berenson Mallow has twenty years of experience in the field of career and professional development for attorneys and has practiced law in both the public and private sectors.  Amy has provided individualized career counseling and coaching to hundreds of lawyers at all levels and from all areas of practice on a national and international basis to help them maximize their career satisfaction and performance potential. Her areas of experience include career planning, career transitions, time management, communication, achieving performance goals and building confidence.  Amy is qualified to administer and interpret the Meyers-Briggs Type Indicator®, has a Master Coach certification from the Behavioral Coaching Institute, and has completed coaching coursework through the Coaches Training Institute and the American Society for Training and Development.  As a consultant, Amy has experience conducting confidential upward reviews, focus groups and exit interviews for law firms.
Amy’s diverse combination of experiences in the consulting, law firm, academic and government settings allows her to bring a unique perspective to her counseling practice.  Before opening Mallow Consulting, Amy served as Manager of Professional Development at Proskauer Rose LLP in Los Angeles; Managing Director for the West Coast office of The Shannon Group, a consulting firm specializing in the professional and career development of legal professionals; and Assistant Dean for Career Services at UCLA School of Law.  Amy also founded MallowSossin LLC, her own legal consulting and recruiting business and was an Assistant Director in the Office of Career Services at Georgetown University Law Center.  Prior to becoming a coach and counselor, Amy practiced law as an associate at Kirkland & Ellis and was a staff attorney in the Enforcement Division of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.  She is a graduate of the Georgetown University Law Center and Franklin & Marshall College.
Amy has conducted presentations for local and national groups including NALP – The Association for Legal Career Professionals, the Professional Development Institute, the Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles, the Lawyers Club of San Diego and the Los Angeles, Bay Area and Orange County Legal Recruitment Associations.  She has also presented career development workshops for law firms and law schools addressing such topics as enhancing communication skills, maximizing career satisfaction, interviewing skills and effective job search strategies.  Amy is a co-author of several chapters in The Lawyer’s Career Management Handbook:  Your Bridge to a Satisfying Career (West Publishing, 2010).
